BAND MEMBERS

HANGER 3 USES

WELCOME EVERYONE!

This is the BAND MEMBERS BIO page.

You should know the band by now, but here they are in full,

Dave ‘EMOE’ East – Lead vocals and Some Guitar

Dave comes from a good background with music, having played with some rather large names in the states!

His songs have been sold to various top ten artists both here and in the USA and he has performed live with Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire and Nickelback.

Dave started Hanger3 when he returned to the UK in 2006.  He hit big with a lot of fans and some well known faces and soon had a Recording contract floating JUST out of reach.

Unfortunately, due to the original members of the band, everything stopped.

Undeterred, Dave found himself being a SOLO artist for a few months, until he was asked to join KMJ. There he met Dave B and Rob G, (who is also now Daves Cousin!!)

Pretty soon, it became clear that HANGER3 needed to come back to the scene. So it was reformed with the view to doing the BOTO gig for the second time this year.

Now HANGER3 is back, and Dave is very happy, the music is even better and who knows what tomorrow brings?

Rob Greenway – Bass guitar, Keyboards and vocals

I’ve been playing music in various forms all my life.
I started playing the piano almost before I could walk and was classically trained from the age of 9. At 11 I took up the Trombone and achieved Grade 8 with distinction from the Royal School of Music in London.
I then joined the British army as a musician (scarlet jacket and silly hat included) and played and drunk my way around Europe and other parts of the world for 10 years. It was in the army that I had a bash at the bass guitar.
After leaving the army I’ve played in numerous bands and genres including soul and dance bands on trombone and an original soul/funk band on keys.
After leaving Kiss me Judas last year, the two Dave’s and myself decided to give it another go so Hanger3 was reborn.

Claims to fame, (yawn). Played to 9 million live on the same gig as the Bee Gees. In the first military band to play in Kuwait City 4 days after the first gulf war and supported The Average White Band at The Stables in Milton Keynes. There’s a few more but I won’t bore you.

As for favourite bands/musicians, I’d have to go with ELO as my all time favourite but at the moment it’s Dream Theater. Can’t stop listening to them. Also have a big love of classical music. Nothing will better Handel’s Messiah, ever.

Dave Barber – Guitar and Vocals

I have lived most of my life in and around Bedford (for the past few years in Olney) where I started playing music at a young age – Piano, Violin and the French Horn.

I have played in local bands since I was a teenager – most notably Face Value, Junction 13, MPH , The Kicks, The Partnership and most recently 5 years in Kiss Me Judas.

INFLUENCES

Throughout my life I have been influenced by seeing and hearing many musicians and groups some of whom I don’t particularly like, but sometimes that is not the point. The first pop music I remember hearing was the Beatles Hello Goodbye on an episode of Z- Cars! The first band I remember liking was The Sweet then Status Quo ( Give me a break, I was only 11! ). The first album that made me go “wow” was Burn by Deep Purple – still one of my favourite albums ever.

I loved the energy of punk and new wave when it first came out and before it started to become mainstream by which time it was on a downhill spiral.  When I saw Eddie and the Hotrods play Teenage Depression I can remember being really confused because they played rock but had short hair!

I love Rossini – he did it for the money and he did it brilliantly. The overture of the Barber of Seville contains just about everything good about music in a few minutes of magic.

I always have had a wide musical taste and certainly, these days I am likely to be listening to anything – soul, country, rock  – anything – as long as its good.

My influences as far as playing goes are many. I love guitarists with feel – Tommy Bolin, Paul Kossoff, Duane Allman. I would like to think that some of their playing has rubbed off on me but unfortunately……..!! I really detest “guitar school” type guitarists who play as fast as possible in a “wow look what I’ve spent 10 years practising fashion” Step forward Steve Vai, Joe Satriani etc. People like Michael Schenker show that you can play fast but still with feeling. My favourite guitar solo of all time is by Tommy Bolin on Savannah Woman – you just cannot get more tasteful – full stop.

Andy Snee – Guitars

Andy has been playing guitar for about just over 10 years and has been in various bands over that time.
His playing style draws from various influences including Nile Rogers, The Edge, Johnny Marr, Pete Townshend, Jimmy page and Jimmy Nolen, making Andy a bit of an ‘all rounder’.
Andy says this about himself : ”I am quite a modest guy but I’m happy to break out into the occasional solo for the odd ‘rock star’ moment!”
Well, if you heard Andy play and especially at BOTO 2010 youd have to agree, he is VERY modest. His solo’s are divine!

Chris Millward – Drums

The “Pocket Rocket” – originally from South London and moved to Buckingham 14 years ago.
Chris has played all over the Country & London with various Punk, Rock and funk bands and aswell as playing top venue’s like Camden Palace, The Rock Garden, & The Marquee.
He has appeared on TV shows like Top of the pops & Paramount City with legends Massive Attack. He also had a brief spell with The Buzzcocks and Twins Courdroy.
His influences are too many to mention but as drummers go the old masters Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham are up there with the Kieth Moons & John Bonham to name but a few.
At present Chris plays, Rolands V drums & a Yamaha accoustic kit .
